THE 12 MAKES OF CHRISTMAS NO.12

THE WREATH

I loved making this one.  I made it with the help of Albie, my 10 year old assistant for the afternoon.  It was really simple, was something we could do together AND chat at the same time, it didn't take long AND used up lots of scraps (which is always satisfying).

You'll need a 30 cm florists wire wreath ring and some fabric scraps, cut into 15 cm x 3 cm strips.
Then you just begin to tie them on - nothing fancy, a simple single knot tugged tightly is fine.  It won't look promising to start with, but as you build up the volume, bunching the ties together as you go, it'll begin to take shape.

I kept the colour palette simple with some white linen voile, some natural unbleached linen, some taupe ticking stripe and - for a bit of Christmas shimmer, some silvery satin.  Finish it off with a hanging loop and bow.   I used some Gina Take a Bow checkmate braid in natural with a covered linen button to hold it all together.

MERRY CHRISTMAS!
